Assembly General Election-2023 - Poll Schedule Notified for All 200 Assembly Constituencies in Rajasthan - Filing of Nominations to be Started on Monday 11AM Onwards - November 6 to be Last date for Filing Nomination Papers - Votes to be Cast on November 25 between 7AM and 6PM

 Jaipur, October 30. With the permission of Governor Shri Kalraj Mishra and recommendation of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan issued gazette notification for conducting elections in order to constitute the State Assembly. The ECI further issued notification according to Sections 30 and 56 of the Representation of People Act, 1951 to announce the schedule of the election process.

Chief Election Officer (CEO) Shri Praveen Gupta told that after the notification of the schedule of polls the public notices need to be issued by Returning Officers (RO) of all 200 assembly constituencies on October 30 itself. This information would be posted and pasted on the offices of the ROs, Assistant ROs and other important offices across the state.

Filing of nomination papers for the candidates contesting the state assembly polls began on Monday 11 AM onwards. Last date of submitting nomination papers by the candidates would be November 6. During this period, November 5, Sunday will be an off-day for filing of papers. Nomination papers will be scrutinized by November 7 and November 9 would be the last date for withdrawal of names by the candidates.

As per the schedule declared by the ECI, in Rajasthan, polling for the assembly elections would be conducted in one phase on November 25 by casting of votes through the EVMs between 7AM and 6PM and the counting of votes would be done on December 3.

Shri Gupta stated that according to the Representation of People Act, 1951, while filing her or his nomination, a general candidate needs to deposit Rs. 10,000 as the surety amount. For the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes, the surety amount would be Rs. 5,000.

According to Shri Gupta, at the time of filing nomination, a candidate can enter the RO room along with not more than 4 persons. At the time of nomination filing, within the periphery of 100 meters of the RO office a candidate cannot have more than three vehicles in her or his convoy. The RO will accept nomination papers between 11AM and 3PM only.

The CEO has instructed all District Election Officers (DEO) and ROs that during the process of nomination filing it should be ensured that the guidelines issued by the ECI were fully adhered to. The ROs should remain present in the respective offices during the entire period and the whole process has to be properly video-graphed.

Shri Gupta said that for filing of nominations, the candidates should reach the RO office with well-prepared documents such as the certificate of surety amount, Form-A, Form-B and Affidavit etc. If a candidate is not a voter of the constituency, she or he is filing nomination for, he should submit a certified copy of the part of the Voters’ List of his own constituency. Any candidate can file four nominations for the same constituency and can contest in the maximum two assembly constituencies.
